In the final week of the Summer Movie Draft, we can safely say that Violet is the winner. Suicide Squad still came in at number one over the weekend, but the box office as a whole did not do spectacularly. The two remaining movies in the Summer Movie Draft that had not released did not even claim the number 2 spot–War Dogs came in at number 3 with $14.6 million and Ben-Hur came in way down at number 6 with $11.2 million. Here are the top ten movies for this week:
- Suicide Squad – $20,855,401
- Sausage Party – $15,485,577
- War Dogs – $14,685,577
- Kubo and the Two Strings – $12,608,372
- Pete’s Dragon – $11,349,938
- Ben-Hur – $11,203,815
- Jason Bourne – $8,016,895
- Bad Moms – $7,946,885
- The Secret Life of Pets – $5,880,500
- Florence Foster Jenkins – $4,384,511
Congratulations to Rob Hestar, Daisy, and Serena Powell who managed to snag their extra points for the final week! They all earned their 3 bonus points! The winner of the Summer Movie Draft contest will be drawn soon, so stay tuned for the winner!
As for the final wrap up, it looks like the battle for second place is still ongoing, so we will have to see where that ends up! If Suicide Squad maintains enough steam, David could pull ahead, but Michelle looks to be in a pretty good spot right now, with a few movies hanging in there with their money-making.
What was interesting was how close it was till the end, aside from myself and Jamie, as we both tanked this season. The top 5 people were all within about $200 million of each other, and if you take out Violet, they were all just about within $100 million.

Thanks for everyone’s participation in the Summer Movie Draft, from both the players and the people who submitted guesses for the Summer Movie Draft Giveaway! It was a lot of fun tracking numbers for the summer and seeing how it all played out. Look out for the “Winter Draft” coming out soon! This could be even more interesting, as we do not have the summer movie blockbusters involved this time around, but there are some big winter movies to consider! We should have another giveaway going for that as well, so stay tuned!
